Returning to school can be very anxiety-inducing and a very daunting experience. It's important to remember to take one day at a time.

You might feel up for going to school one day or even just for the morning, but then the next day it might feel too much, so it's ok to take some time off.
It would be a good idea to speak with someone at your school, such as the school nurse, if they have one or the safeguarding lead, to discuss what accommodations they can provide for you.
This could be by providing you with a space to go to if you do not feel up for class or if something has triggered your emotions. They might also be able to provide you with pastoral support, which could be through referring you to a counsellor or having a designated safeguarding teacher available for you to talk to about what you are experiencing.
If it is impacting your ability to complete your school work, then you should definitely speak to one of your teachers, as they may be able to provide you with accommodations such as academic leniency with marking, extension or further exam support.
Telling friends about what happened can be extremely difficult. Sometimes they may ask questions which you do not want to answer, which can make you upset. It's ok to step away and take time for yourself. You do not need to answer anyone's questions if you do not want to.
If people ask why you have taken time out of school or why you do not seem like your usual self, you do not have to tell them. You can just say you do not want to talk about it or tell them that it's a private medical reason you do not wish to share. They need to respect your privacy. If you feel as though people are not respecting this, then you should speak to a teacher about what help they can provide you with, such as moving class groups or having someone speak to the people who are making you uncomfortable.
If you are still bleeding when you return to school, make sure to keep spare sanitary pads/period underwear in your bag. You can also bring paracetamol and ibuprofen with you for pain relief. Make sure to check with your school's policy about self-medication and whether you can have it with you or must leave it in the office and go there when needed.
Don't forget to stay hydrated as well throughout the day and eat sufficiently, as your body is still recovering.
Always remember you are stronger than you think. Just take it one day at a time.
